A Quick Note Before the Ad
If you have seen my caregiver ads before or interviewed with me in the past, I want to acknowledge that a lot has changed. I know that in the past my home was not always kept to the standard it should have been, and the rates I was able to offer were lower than I would have liked. At the time, I did not fully realize how much was being left undone or how inefficiently some of my limited care funding was being used.
Once I became aware of the bigger picture, I made significant changes. My home is being brought back to the standard I expect, I am much more involved in how responsibilities are handled, and I have completely reworked how my funding is used so I can offer fairer rates.
I’m being open about this because some people may remember the old situation, and I would rather acknowledge it than pretend it never happened. I would also strongly encourage anyone hiring privately for home care to speak directly with past clients whenever possible. I learned the hard way how important that can be, and I would not want another person to go through a similar experience.
Weekend Personal Care Assistant – North Edmonton
$975/month guaranteed | Extra hours at $19.50/hourLong-term, part-time | Non-medical position
I’m a physically disabled woman living in North Edmonton near Beverly, looking for a dependable female personal care assistant to join my small support team.
This is a one-on-one, non-medical personal assistance position in my own home. It is not a nursing or medical role. No HCA certification or previous experience is required, as full training on my individual routines will be provided.
Regular Schedule
Friday: 12:30 PM–6:00 PM
Saturday: 4:00 PM–7:00 PM
Sunday: 4:00 PM–7:00 PM
Total: 11.5 hours per week The position pays a guaranteed $975 per month, paid on the 1st of every month.
Any additional hours or shifts are paid separately at $19.50/hour.
In approximately six months, there may be an chance for the regular hours to expand.
After one year of employment, you will be eligible for consideration for your first raise based on your performance,
reliability and overall commitment to the position. Additional raises may be considered periodically after that, based on continued performance and available funding.
About the Position The position involves non-medical personal assistance, stand-and-pivot transfers, help with my regular daily routines, basic household upkeep and helping with my cats. I’ll explain the full routine during the interview and training rather than putting a huge list of duties in the ad.
Please be realistic about the physical side of this position before applying. The job includes regular stand-and-pivot transfers and hands-on personal assistance, so you need to be physically strong, steady on your feet, and confident that you can safely support my weight during transfers. If you have back, knee, shoulder, balance, or strength limitations that would make this difficult, this position may not be the right fit.
I’m looking for someone who is kind, patient, dependable, comfortable with personal and intimate assistance, genuinely likes cats, can follow instructions and can work independently once trained.
Personality fit matters too because we will spend a lot of one-on-one time together. When you apply, I’d like to hear a little about you as a person, not just your work history.
A valid driver’s licence is preferred but not required.
A background check will be required.
My home is non-smoking and scent-free. Smoking outside is permitted, but please avoid perfume, body spray and other strong scents while working.
A supervised orientation will be provided before you begin working independently.
A Note About Christmas 2026
I want to be upfront about this year’s holiday schedule. Because the Christmas schedule was already spoken for before this position became available,
I will need the person hired to provide additional coverage during Christmas week.
This includes covering my other assistant’s regular shifts that week, as well as your own regular Christmas weekend shifts. Christmas Day falls on your regular Friday shift this year.
Any additional hours beyond your normal schedule will be paid separately at $19.50/hour.
My father will be here over Christmas, but unfortunately, because of his own health issues, he is not able to provide much of my physical assistance, so I will still need dependable coverage during that week.
In exchange, you will have the weekend before Christmas off, as well as January 1 and January 2.
This arrangement is specific to this year and does not mean you will be expected to work every Christmas. If you stay with me long-term, next year’s holiday schedule can be discussed well in advance so we can work out Christmas coverage fairly together rather than assuming you will always work it.
Who I’m Looking For
I’m hoping to find someone who genuinely wants a stable, long-term position. Reliability and communication are extremely important because I depend on my assistants for my daily needs and cannot simply go without coverage when someone does not show up.
You do not need an impressive resume or years of experience. Common sense, patience, kindness, willingness to learn, respect for both people and animals, and actually following through on your commitments matter much more to me.
