Job Summary

As Physician Clinical Assistant, you will provide clinical and administrative support directly to the ophthalmologist to facilitate efficient, high-quality patient care during clinic and laser procedure days.

Your role will focus on medical scribing, patient communication, clinic workflow support, laser procedure preparation, diagnostic testing review and chart preparation, and administrative support. You will work in close collaboration with the Clinical Operations & Physician Coordinator and clinic staff.

Responsibilities

- Scribe in real time during physician clinics, documenting histories, findings, assessments, and treatment plans
- Prepare prescriptions, requisitions, and encounter notes for physician review
- Answer patient calls and questions, reinforce physician instructions, and escalate clinical concerns
- Educate patients on appointments, testing, laser procedures, medications, and follow-up
- Support patient flow, room turnover, and clinic efficiency
- Coordinate laser procedure clinics, including booking checks and consent/documentation review
- Review diagnostic testing, enter results in the EMR, and prepare physician charts




- Provide administrative and EMR template support and collaborate with clinic staff

Qualifications

- Previous experience as a medical scribe, ophthalmic assistant, or medical office assistant (or equivalent clinical documentation experience)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, with ophthalmology experience considered an asset
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and quick, accurate typing
- Excellent communication skills for speaking with patients by phone and in person, with sound judgment on when to escalate to the physician
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinic while maintaining confidentiality (HIPA)

Pay: $23.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16.0 – 20.0 per week
