Job Overview The Madras Diaries is looking for friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Restaurant Servers to join our team. The successful candidates will help create a welcoming dining experience for our guests while maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, and teamwork.

Position: Restaurant Server

Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Location: The Madras Diaries, 1097 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC

Key Responsibilities

- Welcome guests warmly and provide attentive, courteous service throughout their visit.
- Present menus, explain daily specials, and assist guests with food and beverage selections.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the restaurant POS system.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and ensure orders are delivered correctly.
- Check on guests during their meals to ensure satisfaction and respond to their requests.
- Recommend menu items and daily specials to enhance the guest experience.
- Process customer payments, handle cash, and operate the POS system accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining tables, service stations, and the dining area.
- Assist with restaurant opening and closing duties as required.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
- Handle customer questions and concerns professionally.
- Assist with buffet service and other restaurant operations when required.
- Work collaboratively with team members to maintain an productive and welcoming restaurant environment.





Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous experience as a restaurant server or in the food service industry is preferred.
- A degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or a related field is an asset.
- Candidates with relevant restaurant experience and strong customer service skills are encouraged to apply, even without formal hospitality education.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service, table service, and restaurant operations is an advantage.
- Familiarity with restaurant POS systems, such as Micros POS, is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, professional attitude with a passion for hospitality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Basic math skills and the ability to handle customer payments accurately.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is preferred.
- Reliable, punctual, well-organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
