About Factor

Factor is a digital creative agency founded in sunny Oakland, California, with a client roster including Google, Brex, Coinbase, Waymo, Shopify, and more. Our shop was founded in 2013 by two creative directors who sought to build an agency run by creatives, with a singular focus on stunning creative work.

From our humble beginnings — two creatives at a kitchen table — we’ve grown into a 100-person team that designs beautiful interactive experiences and marketing campaigns for a vast range of brands including Google Travel , Google Maps, and many more. We’ve built a highly diverse, inclusive, nonhierarchical culture where people are valued and celebrated, work-life balance is respected, hierarchy is minimized, and egos are left at the door.

In July 2023, we joined forces with Virtusa, a leading global technology services provider trusted by a wide range of Fortune 100 companies. The blend of our creative expertise and Virtusa’s engineering capabilities now allow us to offer truly integrated marketing solutions to our clients.

About the Role

As a Senior Content Strategist you will work on a global tech account, defining and establishing portfolio-level content best practices for engaging our target technical and developer audiences. You bring deep content architecture, research expertise, and technical/conversational writing skills, combining strategic oversight with hands-on leadership to guide, mentor, and elevate copywriters across accounts.

This role can be located anywhere in Canada, as long as you’re within 3 hours of the Pacific Time Zone, as much of your work will be with fully-remote team members located across North America. We are looking for this person to start asap, for 2 months, with a chance for extension.

Key Responsibilities

- Establish, evolve,

and govern portfolio-level content best practices, voice guidelines, and editorial standards designed to communicate authentically and conversationally with developer and technical audiences.
- Architect and scale end-to-end content infrastructure across diverse creative surfaces, including landing pages, presentation decks, email sequences, event signage, playbooks, and developer collateral.
- Conduct deep audience and technical research to translate complex capabilities into clear, approachable, and engaging messaging without coming off as sales- or marketing-focused.
- Oversee project-level content hierarchies with copywriters providing strategic oversight to ensure alignment with overarching portfolio standards.
- Lead content reviews and critiques, delivering clear, actionable feedback grounded in technical accuracy, clarity, and conversational writing principles.
- Define and roll out account-level content ways of working, standardized workflows, and governance frameworks to streamline copywriting operations.
- Mentor and elevate team copywriters, helping them develop their technical research capabilities and effectively convey complex information in a clear, conversational tone to specialized developer archetypes.
- Partner closely with creative director, senior design, product marketing leads, and cross-functional leaders to ensure content strategy is deeply integrated into broader account architectures.

- Serve as the senior content authority and escalation point for complex messaging, tone, and technical communication decisions across all creative touchpoints.
- AI tooling and innovation: Design and run AI-assisted content workflows, using LLMs and related tools without sacrificing accuracy, voice, or quality. Evaluate recent tools as they emerge, set standards for when and how the team uses them, and know where human judgment has to stay in the loop.

Qualifications:

- 8-10+ years of experience in a Content Strategy role with extensive experience in:
- Content strategy, Technical writing, Research, Conversational copywriting.
- Deep research expertise and strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling content.
- Exceptional judgment and experience developing communications for developer-focused audiences.
- Proven ability to build and scale content systems across physical and digital creative surfaces.
- Robust understanding of technical nuance, with the ability to balance accuracy, clarity, and conversational tone.
- Strategic leader who can guide, mentor, and inspire creative teams.
- Demonstrated ability to shape content direction while partnering closely with cross-functional creative and technical teams.
- The willingness to accept constructive creative feedback from your executive creative directors, peers, and clients, and to come up with smart solutions that address that feedback.
- Confidence without arrogance. We don’t have any prima donnas or large egos at Factor. Life is too short to be full of ourselves.

NOTE: This is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the agency.
