Whatistheproject?

ThePickeringNuclearGeneratingStationrefurbishmentprograminvolvesdesigningandbuildinganewdeep-waterintakeinLakeOntariotoimprovetheplant'scoolingsystem.Thiswillinvolve:

- A1.5km-longtunnel,builtbyapressurizedTBM(10.5mdiameterslurryTBM);
- Twoverticalshafts(onshoreandoffshore);
- Anoffshoremodularintakestructure,restingonthelakebed.

Theprojectisdistinguishedbyitsproximitytoanactivenuclearsite,requiringrigorousstandardsofsafety,planningandcoordination.

Whatyouwilldo:

As an Environmental Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance, sustainability, and continuous improvement across all phases of the project, while supporting project teams in minimizing environmental impacts and meeting regulatory requirements.

Concretely,yourtaskswillbe:

- SupportedprojectteamsintheimplementationandcontinuousimprovementoftheEnvironmentalManagementSystem;
- Coordinatedenvironmentaldocumentation,permits,monitoringprograms,andregulatorycomplianceactivitieswithconsultants,designers,constructionteams,andstakeholders;
- Ledenvironmentalriskassessmentsduringdesignandconstructionphases,identifyingimpactsandimplementingmitigationmeasurestominimizeenvironmentalfootprint;
- Oversawenvironmentalmonitoringprograms(noise,vibration,dust,emissions,waterquality)andensuredcompliancewithprojectrequirementsandregulatorythresholds;
- Conductedsiteinspections,audits,trainingsessions,andawarenessprogramstopromoteenvironmentalbestpracticesandcomplianceacrosstheproject;




- Managedenvironmentalnon-conformities,correctiveactions,andcontinuousimprovementinitiatives,ensuringeffectiveresolutionandcommunicationoflessonslearned;
- Actedastheprimaryenvironmentalpointofcontactonsite,supportingprojectmanagementwithenvironmentalreporting,reviews,presentations,andstakeholderengagement;
- ContributedtoQHSEperformancethroughparticipationinaudits,managementreviews,processimprovementinitiatives,andcross-functionalcoordination.

Yourskills:

- Abachelor’sdegreewithspecializationinplanning,environmentalplanning,environmentalassessment,geographyoranotherrelateddiscipline
- Atleast6yearsofexperienceinanenvironmentalrole
- Experiencewiththeimplementationofenvironmentalmanagementsystems
- KnowledgeofISO14001standardsandQHSEregulationsapplicabletolargeconstructionprojects
- Experienceintunnelingorundergroundworksisanasset
- Experienceworkingonprojectswithhigh-riskenvironments(nuclear,offshore,orsimilar)isanasset
- Excellentcommunicationskills,bothwrittenandverbal
