Our client is seeking a reliable and motivated Farm Supervisor to oversee day-to-day crop production activities in the Kimberley area. This role is critical for ensuring that planting, cultivation, and harvesting operations are carried out efficiently and to high standards. You will lead a team of farm workers, manage equipment usage, and ensure adherence to safety protocols. This hands-on position is ideal for an individual with practical farming experience and good leadership skills, contributing to the agricultural output of the Northern Cape.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of farm laborers involved in crop cultivation, planting, and harvesting.
- Ensure that all farming operations are conducted according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, plows, and harvesters.
- Monitor crop health and growth, reporting any issues or concerns to the farm manager.
- Manage the efficient use of resources such as water, fertilizers, and pesticides.
- Assist in the implementation of crop rotation and soil conservation plans.
Requirements
- Proven experience in agricultural operations and crop production.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role, managing a team of farm workers.
- Familiarity with a variety of farm machinery and equipment, and basic maintenance skills.
- Understanding of crop growth cycles, soil types, and common farming techniques.
- Positive communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
