Reporting to the Outpatient Mental Health Services Manager, the Sexual Assault and Partner Abuse 24/7 team Registered Practical Nurse participates on an on-call team that provides specialized treatment, psychosocial care, legal information, and related crisis counseling to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence (intimate partner abuse).
QUALIFICATIONS (Required)
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Able to commit to a minimum of two years as part of the SA&PACC; 24/7 team (5 shifts per month)
- 1-2 years of Nursing experience (minimum)
- Medication certification and ability to practice
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Well developed critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated realization of continuous learning professionally and personally
- Proficiency in physical assessment of adult patients
- Skills in physical assessment of paediatric patients and/or willingness to learn
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other members of the health care team
- Demonstrated approach to others that is non-judgmental and supportive
- Understanding of the current issues and challenges in providing care to sexual and domestic violence victims
- Knowledgeable and proficient with the skills required to educate adults
- Sound comprehension of the CNO guidelines on scope of practice and their application
- Established skills in self-care
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
