About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Bio-Process Engineer to join their dynamic Biologics Manufacturing team in Kimberley. This role is essential for the development, optimization, and scale-up of bioprocessing operations for therapeutic proteins and other biological products. You will be instrumental in ensuring efficient, robust, and compliant manufacturing processes, contributing directly to the production of life-saving therapies. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to apply your engineering expertise in a growing and innovative pharmaceutical manufacturing workplace, working collaboratively with production, quality, and R&D; teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and scale-up upstream and downstream bioprocessing operations for therapeutic proteins, vaccines, and other biologics.
- Design and execute experiments to improve process yield, product quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process deviations, ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Author and review process development reports, batch records, and validation protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing operations, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to ensure successful process transfer and implementation.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in bioprocessing and biotechnology manufacturing.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in bioprocess development and/or manufacturing within the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Strong understanding of upstream (cell culture, fermentation) and downstream (chromatography, filtration) processing technologies.
- Experience with process scale-up, technology transfer, and process validation is essential.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for process modeling and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills, required for working in a hybrid capacity in Kimberley.
