McGill School of Public Policy Winter 2027 Course Policy Case Study2 (Master of Public Policy Program) PPOL633 Borders, Backlogs, and Belonging: Asylum & Refugee Policy in Canada (1 credit)

Teaching Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9am to 12pm or 1pm to 4pm - Total15 hours per week

Teaching Qualifications Requirements

- Bachelor or M.A and/or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field
- Teaching experience at the University Level is preferred
- Extensive knowledge of policy transparency and policy transparency challenges Experience
- Strong background in public policy, policy analysis, politics, analytics, or economics is required.
- A minimum of five years of applied/industry-related experience complemented by academic research in the relevant field is essential
- Proven experience in the design, analysis and implementation of policies within government or industry settings, with a clear understanding of the complexities inherent in the policymaking process.
- Demonstrable expertise in persuasive communication — both written and verbal — and its influence on the policymaking process is preferred.

Course Description Case study courses are offered over a one‑week period in the Fall, Winter and/or Summer terms. These courses are designed to bridge theory with practice by introducing students to the various elements of the policy process that can only be understood by practitioners who were involved in the policy's department. Practitioners interested in teaching a policy case study must include with their application a proposal for a case study that centers on a specific policy issue in which they are or were closely involved.



The practitioner's area of specialization should be as close as possible to that of the course being offered.
