Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.
Aligned with SFU's goal to create an exceptional student learning experience, the Student Learning Commons (SLC) delivers services to SFU students in the areas of academic writing, learning and study strategies, and English as an Additional Language.
SLC services include consultations, workshops, conversation groups, and learning resources. Our team works together collaboratively to deliver these services through our shared values of care, inclusion, and agency.
About the Role
To elevate and celebrate undergraduate student writing at SFU, the Student Learning Commons hosts an annual interdisciplinary Writing Contest. The Writing Contest Program Assistant plays a key administrative role in the contest, by processing students’ submissions; coordinating the contest pre-screening and judging processes; and assisting in planning the writing contest closing reception (March 2027).
