Imperial Skills Academy is looking for an experienced carpenter who enjoys teaching and helping others develop practical skills. You will deliver hands-on training at our Burnaby workshop, supporting students from diverse cultural backgrounds and with different levels of experience.
This role is ideal for someone who is patient, approachable, and passionate about sharing their trade knowledge.
Responsibilities
Deliver practical lessons in basic carpentry, measurement, cutting, assembly, and safe tool use.
Demonstrate techniques clearly and guide students through hands-on activities.
Adapt instruction to different learning needs, language abilities, and experience levels.
Provide constructive feedback to help students build skills and confidence.
Prepare tools, materials, and activities for each class.
Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming workshop.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on carpentry experience.
Red Seal certification in carpentry, or actively working toward certification.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to explain technical concepts in transparent, simple language.
Enjoyment of teaching and working with people from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
Patience, reliability, and a robust commitment to safety.
Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience is an asset.
