Westfield Secondary School is seeking an experienced and dedicated English / ESL / Social Sciences Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate should reside in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and have a robust background in teaching English, ESL, and/or Social Sciences at the secondary school level.
The ideal candidate will be an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with Intermediate/Senior qualifications and a minimum of three years of relevant teaching experience. The candidate should demonstrate strong communication and classroom management skills and be able to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and school administration.
The successful candidate must be available to work Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The start date will be determined based on the successful candidate’s availability.
Qualifications and Requirements
A successful candidate will have and maintain:
Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification;
Intermediate/Senior teaching qualifications;
A strong academic and teaching background in English, ESL, Social Sciences, or related subjects;
Experience teaching secondary school English courses;
Experience working with ESL and international students;
Ability to teach Social Sciences courses is strongly preferred;
In-depth knowledge of the Ontario curriculum and the Ministry of Education’s Growing Success document;
Strong assessment, evaluation, lesson-planning, and classroom-management skills;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team; and
A valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check prior to employment.
Experience teaching in an Ontario private secondary school or working with international students would be considered an asset.
