Seasonal Food Truck Lead / Kitchen Lead

Fire & Rice is a growing Asian-inspired food truck serving crispy chicken, bulgogi, loaded fries, rice bowls and other bold, flavour-forward dishes.

We're looking for a reliable, hardworking person to become our lead team member for the upcoming busy season.

This is more than a basic kitchen position. I'm looking for someone who can become my right-hand person on the truck and take on more responsibility as the business grows.

What you'll do:
Work alongside the owner/chef at festivals, events and food truck services
Prepare ingredients and cook food according to Fire & Rice recipes and standards
Operate the fryer and other cooking stations
Assemble orders accurately and consistently
Operate Square POS and handle customer orders/payments
Keep the truck clean, organized and properly stocked
Assist with setup, breakdown and loading/unloading
Help manage the workflow during busy service
Eventually help train and supervise other team members
Help with opening and closing the truck

What I'm looking for:
Extremely reliable and punctual
Robust work ethic and positive attitude
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment




Able to stay calm and organized during busy service
Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
Previous kitchen or food-service experience is preferred
FoodSafe certification is an asset
Available for evenings, weekends and multi-day festivals
Able to commit to occasional 3–5 day festivals

The schedule:

Fire & Rice is a seasonal, event-based business, so hours will vary.

During our busy season, there can be weeks with substantial hours, especially during festivals and larger events. Other weeks may have limited or no shifts depending on our event schedule.

This position is ideal for someone who wants versatile seasonal work and may have another job, school or other commitments.

The person who performs well will have the opportunity to become our primary lead team member, with priority for major events and additional responsibility as Fire & Rice continues to grow.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 40.0 per week
