Summary/Objective Emburse software engineers contribute to the development of an engaging and interconnected set of system solutions. Essential Functions Technical

Self-sufficient in at least one large area of the codebase

Mastery of at least one language and developing mastery of multiple other languages, frameworks and tools

Identifies viable alternative solutions and presents them

Understanding of relational databases, development frameworks, and commonly used industry libraries.

Understanding of testing and integration testing techniques

Moderate understanding of how a handful of key sub-systems interoperate

Ability to read and understand existing code and offer recommendations for improvement

Understanding of OWASP

Process

SDLC processes are followed, including adopting agile-based processes/meetings, peer code-reviews, and technical preparations required for scheduled releases.

Understands product roadmap and how one contributes to the overall objectives

Capability of prioritizing tasks

Estimates their own work

Learns and applies secure software development practices, reviews code for vulnerabilities and raises awareness of secure programming practices

Impact





Fixes bugs of moderate complexity and demonstrates proficient debugging skills

Reviews code for team members, providing in-depth comments

Develops new features or enhancements with minimal supervision

Delivers medium level refactoring

Implements unit testing and integration testing where needed

Produces quality technical documentation

Makes technical documentation/knowledge base contributions and technical team presentations

Communication

Gives constructive feedback to team members

Understanding of industry jargon and business concepts

Raises roadblocks and updates estimations as needed

Education and Experience:- Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent years’ experience

Experience:

Required: Minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering

Certifications:

Required: None

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:- Required Skills:

Minimum of 2+ years of professional software engineering experience in a distributed web application development environment (e.g. microservices, APIs, DB integration, queues, topics, caches, containers, serverless).

Strong hands-on experience with C# and the .NET / .NET Core framework, with proven history designing,



building, and consuming RESTful services and APIs.

Experience with Azure services and APIs, or equivalent cloud vendor experience (e.g., AWS).

Experience working in both Windows and Linux environments.

Experience with source control systems such as Git.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment methodologies.

Experience working in an Agile software development setting (e.g., Scrum).

Experience working with 3rd party APIs, workflow, and integration architectures.

Understanding of secure coding principles, OWASP guidelines, and agile software development lifecycles.

Desirable Skills:

Travel Domain Experience: Prior experience in corporate travel, booking engines, or expense management platforms. (Note: Candidates with strong Java experience will be considered if accompanied by Travel domain expertise).

AI & Modern Developer Workflows: Experience utilizing AI coding assistants, models, or harness frameworks (e.g., Harness, Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development.

Experience with data processing, data engineering, or integrations with AI/ML services and APIs.

Exposure to containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

This job operates in a professional, open office environment.

This is an onsite role at our Emburse Toronto office location
