Our client, an established public accounting firm, is seeking a Staff Accountant / Tax Preparer to join their growing team. This opportunity is ideal for an individual working toward their CPA designation or considering the CPA path, with experience in public accounting and an interest in both accounting and taxation.The successful candidate will work directly with small to mid-sized businesses, owner-managed companies, and individuals, gaining exposure to corporate accounting, year-end engagements, and tax preparation.ResponsibilitiesPrepare corporate, personal, and partnership income tax returnsAssist with year-end engagements, including compilation and review filesPrepare working papers, account reconciliations, and financial statementsAnalyze client records and identify discrepancies or areas requiring follow-upAssist with bookkeeping and month-end accounting support for clientsCommunicate with clients to obtain documentation and resolve accounting inquiriesRespond to CRA correspondence and client tax questionsSupport senior accountants and managers on client engagementsContribute to special projects and process improvements as requiredQualificationsDiploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldCurrently enrolled in the CPA PEP program, planning to pursue CPA, or interested in obtaining a CPA designation in the future2-5 years of public accounting experience preferredExperience preparing personal and corporate tax returnsFamiliarity with DT Max, CaseWare, TaxPrep, Profile, QuickBooks,
