Job Description: Position Purpose summary

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. Kettle Worker/Helper is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.

Key Responsibilities

- Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
- Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset.
- Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion.
- Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City/Assistant Coordinator.




- Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required.
- Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign.
- Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers.
- Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently.
- Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis).
- Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
- Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Financial and Materials Management

- Collect donations and petite cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.

Working Conditions

- This is a temporary full time position
- Work environment is typically in malls/stores
- Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.

Experience

A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service. Money handling experience is an asset. Related experience is an asset.

Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abd ... etc.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $17.00 to $18.08 with a maximum of $21.69. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
