Job Title: Geologist – Sedimentologist & Stratigrapher Specialist

Job Duties

Developing, refining, and communicating regional stratigraphic frameworks and depositional models to support helium exploration and development programs in Western Canada.

Overseeing geologic operations during the planning and drilling of wells

Develop and refine regional chronostratigraphic frameworks for Cambrian and associated sedimentary intervals within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

Conduct detailed sedimentological and stratigraphic analyses using core data, well logs, sequence stratigraphic methodologies, and subsurface mapping techniques.

Integrate multidisciplinary datasets, including geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and shallow subsurface data, into comprehensive basin-scale interpretations.

Construct depositional models and associated maps to support prospect generation, exploration risk assessment, and drilling target identification.

Collaborate with geophysical and engineering teams to support well planning, delineation, and development strategies.

Evaluate third-party geological data acquisitions and participate in technical due diligence where required.

Prepare technical reports, mapping products, and internal presentations to support exploration decision-making.

Represent NAH at technical conferences and coordinate academic collaborations to advance research and exploration methodologies.

Arrange geologic wellsite services, prepare pre-drill prognoses, and monitor geologic data received during drilling of wells (e.g., information regarding drill cuttings, mud gas, MWD gamma).





Number of Positions (if more than one): One

Terms of Employment: Full time, permanent.

Wage/Salary: $173,000 CAD per annum; $83.17 per hour

Annual benefit allowance of up to $12,750 (depending on family status) which is used toward health and dental expenses.

Location of Work: Calgary, Alberta

Education Required:

Master’s degree in Geology. PhD preferred. Specialization in Cambrian sedimentology and stratigraphy , basin analysis, or a closely related geoscience discipline is preferred.

Professional registration with APEGA or an equivalent provincial regulatory body

Work Experience:

Minimum 2 years of applied industry experience in subsurface geological interpretation and stratigraphic analysis, including experience in helium or other unconventional gas resources.

Minimum 2 years of geologic drilling operations experience.

Experience in core logging, regional correlation, depositional system analysis, and basin-scale geological modeling.

Other Requirements:

Demonstrated expertise in Cambrian stratigraphy within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin; Saskatchewan subsurface experience considered an asset.
