AiM Land & Environmental Services has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Finance Director to join our team. Reporting to the President, the Finance Director provides strategic financial leadership and oversight of the finance function. This role guides and develops the finance team, strengthens financial planning and decision-making, and ensures effective day-to-day operations through clear accountability, strong financial controls, and continuous improvement.

As the Finance Director , you will provide strategic leadership and oversight across the following key areas:
Lead annual budgeting,
forecasting and cash-flow planning.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to executive leadership.
Develop meaningful financial and operational KPIs.
Identify financial risks, opportunities and emerging performance issues.
Support major commercial, financing and strategic decisions.
Provide leadership on financial matters arising from the North/South amalgamation.
Manage treasury functions (banking relationships, cash forecasting and credit facility management, if any).
Finance Leadership and Governance Provide leadership and coaching to the Controller, strengthen finance team capability, and establish clear accountability, effective delegation, and sustainable processes across the finance function.
Review monthly financial results and significant accounting issues.
Challenge unusual trends, variances and assumptions.
Oversee significant accounting, banking, tax, audit and financial matters.
Ensure appropriate financial policies, controls and governance are established.
Sponsor finance process improvement, automation, and systems optimization of Deltek VantagePoint and related finance systems.
Organizational Development Ensure finance responsibilities and decision rights are clearly defined.
Monitor whether the finance organization has appropriate capability and capacity.
Support development of finance leadership and succession capability.
Monitor team-health indicators, such as retention, workload sustainability and staff feedback, alongside financial and process measures, as an early signal of organizational effectiveness.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal and team safety by closely following company safety policies, standards, and procedures.
Assist with other responsibilities as needed to contribute to the overall success of the organization.
We are looking for the following skills and qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
CPA designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA).
Minimum 8–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including senior financial leadership responsibilities.
Strong financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical capabilities.
Strong understanding of accounting and controllership in a project-based qualified services environment, including revenue recognition and work-in-progress (WIP) practices.
Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, taxation, payroll legislation, and regulatory compliance.
Experience overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll, and financial controls.
Demonstrated experience in cash flow and working-capital management.
Proficiency with enterprise accounting systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.
Strong business partnering skills and commercial judgment.
Experience in organizational and process design.
Demonstrated ability to lead change and challenge established practices constructively.
Sound judgment regarding risk, materiality, and prioritization.
Coaching and developmental feedback skills, particularly for direct reports building leadership capability.
Key Measures of Success Timely and decision-useful financial reporting and analysis.
Reliable budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning.
Early identification and escalation of significant financial risks and opportunities.
Effective oversight and development of the Finance team.
Progress toward standardized North and South finance practices.
