JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Project Manager

JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a commercial millwork Project Manager to plan, execute and deliver client store fixture projects on-time, on-budget, to client specifications. Candidates who are able to successfully demonstrate high level of performance in the Project Manager role, will be short listed for development into Senior Project Manager position.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Takes full ownership of assigned client accounts by: consulting with client and internal departments to complete project start tasks, including but not limited to: review drawings and request for quotes, complete materials take-offs, prepare quotes, coordinate completion of shop drawings, document client approvals, and make modifications as necessary

Initiating sales and work orders as per clients purchase order and final approved drawings

Developing and controling project schedule and deliverables ensuring scope of work is well defined and understood by both internal and external stakeholders

Managing the project to defined plan, ensuring sign-offs and customer approvals as needed and detailed documentation of all agreements, disagreements, changes and issues

Managing Change Orders with customer and internal stakeholders such as estimating, scheduling, and production, including clear scope and follow-through to execution and billing

Developing inventory requirement plans and order schedules; meet with Plant Manager on production requirements, details and timelines

Monitoring production process and keeping abreast of job progress in accordance with client specifications, plans and shipping/installation schedule





Managing risks and their impact and create awareness of risks with internal and external stakeholders

Monitoring site reports and ensure timely and appropriate resolution of any issues

Following through with receivables to ensure timely payment from clients

Investigating budget overruns and shortfalls, summarize and presents findings to Management

Providing project status and progress updates to management and develop project completion reports ("lessons learned") to avoid errors, inefficiencies and other issues in future projects

Managing the efforts of Project Coordinators as required

Attending meetings on site or at client’s head office as required

Assisting in the delivery of other internal activities such as new system implementation and process; Leading and/or participating in process improvement and other internal projects

Other duties and assignments as required

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

A bachelor’s degree, PMP designation, or equivalent experience

Min 3; preferred 5+ years project management experience within the retail store fixture industry in Canada and/or United States.

Proven ability to handle $5 million + accounts within North American markets

Knowledge of ERP considered an asset (preferred EPICOR)





Strong leadership and team management skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Attention to details and superior organization skills

Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills

Able to effectively build and maintain strong relationships

Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals and objectives

Hands-on approach to Projects, taking ownership of every aspect of the client account

Engineering or woodworking background is an asset.

OTHER CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English

Must be willing to be adaptable with work schedule i.e. stay late if needed

Must be willing to answer phone calls after work hours if/when needed

Must have a driver’s license and car and be willing to travel from time to time

Must accept occasional out of Canada travel (Mostly to USA) if required

Job Type: Full-Time

Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm (or as required)

Competitive Salary Negotiable – Based on relevant industry experience.
