Support Indigenous students effectively in their educational journeys as a Replacement Indigenous Education Worker at School District No. 57. This role facilitates understanding and participation in the school community by providing essential guidance and support.
Reporting to the Principal or designate, the IEW will work closely with teachers and families to advocate for Indigenous students' needs. Key responsibilities include developing individualized education plans and coordinating with community agencies to enhance access to resources. You will play a pivotal role in supporting both educational and emotional development for Indigenous youth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Liaise with teachers and Indigenous families as an advocate
• Conduct home visits and support educational participation
• Implement tailored academic and social interventions
• Promote Indigenous cultural events within the district
• Participate in Indigenous Parent Advisory Committee meetings
Requirements:
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Two years of experience with Indigenous youth
• Valid British Columbia driver’s license
• Knowledge of local Indigenous cultures
• Solid communication skills in English
