Join the Department of Environment and Climate Change as a Legislation Advisor, focusing on legislative analysis and policy development. Contribute to sustainable resource management and environmental stewardship across the Northwest Territories.
As an Advisor in Legislation and Legal Affairs, you will conduct vital research, coordinate legislative development, and oversee consultation processes. Your role includes supporting Access to Information requests and clarifying legal issues for the department. Your expertise will influence important decisions on forest management, wildlife, and water resources.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct research on existing and new legislation
• Coordinate development of new or amended regulations
• Support Section 35 Consultation discussions




• Facilitate Access to Information and Protection requests
• Liaise with Department of Justice on legal matters
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in law, public policy, or related field
• Two years of relevant policy/legislation experience
• Master's degree with one year of experience considered
• Diploma with four years of relevant experience permitted
• Commitment to ongoing career development
