One Year Temporary Position

Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Employee Health & Safety (EHS),



the Health and Safety Coordinator supports the Prevention team by providing operational support for health and safety programs across the school district. The role also supports project planning, coordination, implementation, tracking and reporting for health and safety projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities
Assist in planning, executing, and tracking health and safety initiatives, timelines, and action items.
Coordinate project activities across departments and sites. Liaise with internal departments and external partners to support implementation. Maintain project documentation and prepare regular project status updates and reports.
Track safety records, address deficiencies, and resolve or expand compliance issues.
Participate in audits, hazard assessments, inspections, and incident investigations and support implementation of corrective actions.
Develop and maintain safety documentation including checklists, procedures, inspection forms, and training materials.
Support the development and delivery of training. Assist with safety communications and toolbox talks.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and three years’ recent related experience.
Valid B.C. Driver's License

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Working knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe work practices.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate and build trust with a variety of partners.
Strong organization and project management skills and ability to manage multiple, concurrent activities.




Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
Ability to exercise tact and discretion and maintain a calm, qualified approach to sensitive situations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) and health and safety platforms.

The salary range for thisposition is $80,828 to $101,034 per year with comprehensive benefits package and Municipal Pension.

Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of qualifications and ability to meet the key requirements of the job, and consideration of internal equity comparisons.The midpoint of the range represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position.
