Are you an experienced leader who believes that housing is a foundation for health, dignity, and belonging?
Nelson CARES Society is looking for a Program Manager – Supportive Housing Services to lead and strengthen our supportive housing programs in Nelson.
This is an opportunity for a thoughtful, capable leader to make a meaningful difference while working alongside a dedicated team committed to housing stability, harm reduction, trauma-informed practice, Housing First, and person-centered service delivery.
What you’ll do Reporting to the Housing Director, you’ll provide leadership and operational oversight across multiple supportive housing sites. You’ll work closely with supervisors, frontline staff, tenants, community partners, and service providers to ensure our programs are safe, responsive, effective, and grounded in dignity.
Your responsibilities will include: Leading and supporting supervisors and frontline teams across multiple housing programs and sites
Coaching, developing, and strengthening staff and leadership capacity
Supporting teams through complex tenant situations involving mental health, substance use, housing instability, and other barriers
Championing trauma-informed, harm-reduction, Housing First, and person-centered approaches
Participating in tenant selection and Coordinated Access processes
Supporting compliance with funding agreements, organizational policies, and applicable legislation
Monitoring budgets, reporting requirements, and operational priorities
Building strong working relationships with community partners and service providers




Participating in an after-hours management on-call rotation
We’re looking for someone who brings A degree or diploma in Human Services, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and experience
3–5 years of progressive leadership or management experience, ideally in supportive housing, homelessness services, or community social services
Experience supervising staff, preferably in a unionized environment
Solid knowledge of trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, Housing First, and person-centered approaches
Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Working knowledge of relevant housing, human rights, privacy, and occupational health and safety requirements
A valid BC Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle
A satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Compensation & details $42.55/hour (JES Wage Grid #16) Higher rates may be offered commensurate with experience and qualifications.
