Part-Time Academic (CHEM 1011/1021: Concepts in Chemistry I) - Winter 2027 Position Title Part-Time Academic (CHEM 1011/1021: Concepts in Chemistry I) - Winter 2027 Posting Number PTAP3553P Job Summary & Key Responsibilities Chem 1011/1021: Concepts in Chemistry I – 1 Lecturer – Winter 2027
Course description: Chem 1012/1022 includes teaching principles of thermodynamics, kinetics and organic chemistry.
The Lecturer position is responsible for delivering the lecture component of the class, including assisting with test and exam management, on-line student assistance, marking, test and exam invigilation, tutorial support and supporting review sessions as is necessary.
Lecturer will cover up to 2 lectures daily between 8:30am-11:30am on Mon/Wed/Fri. Lecturer will have 2 hours of office hours/tutorial support per week scheduled in the afternoon based on the availability of the lecturer and the rest of the teaching team.
This position reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Science through the Chair of the Department of Chemistry, for winter 2027.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position Minimum qualification for this position is a BSc Degree in Chemistry (or a related program).
Experience providing support for teaching 1st-year university chemistry in the lecture environment is strongly preferred; experience providing support for teaching within the Concepts in Chemistry program is also strongly preferred.
