Senior School Business Teacher

Role Overview
To support our vision of empowered young women challenging and transforming the world, we are currently seeking a Senior School Business Studies Teacher. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Senior School Principal and Faculty and will be responsible for learning and teaching within Economics, Launching and Leading a Business, International Business Fundamentals and Canadian History courses. This is a temporary contract position to address an immediate staffing need due to a leave of absence.

Experience

Experience with developing innovative inquiry-based programming that challenges students with a variety of learning styles, interests and strengths.

2+ years experience teaching at Senior School level (Grades 9-12) with a focus on Business & Social Sciences

Experience in a non‑profit setting (asset)

Experience in an Independent School (asset)

Working Conditions: Office / School Environment, Mac, Google

Education

Bachelor of Education, Ontario Teacher Certification

Duties and Responsibilities

Teach Business and History classes within the Senior School.

Provide inspirational learning experiences for students.

Work collaboratively within the department and the Senior School faculty on curricular initiatives.

Maintain consistent and professional communication with students, faculty and parents.

Contribute to the co‑curricular life of the School.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

SMLS' culture is highly collaborative and community‑oriented. All staff are expected to participate fully in the life of the school, including attending school events which may occur on evenings or weekends from time to time (faculty participation in co‑curriculars is essential).

Employees are expected to undertake additional responsibilities as reasonably assigned, consistent with the scope and level of the role.

While a teacher's current teaching assignment is based on the School's present operational and educational needs, teaching assignments are subject to change from time to time. As the needs of the School, its students, enrolment, programming, and staffing requirements evolve, you may be assigned to teach different grades, subjects, courses, or programs for which you are qualified and competent to teach. Any such changes will be made reasonably, and every effort will be made to provide advance notice and appropriate training where required.

Compensation & Terms
Annual compensation is based on our Faculty Salary Grid, which factors in qualifications and up to 12 years of teaching experience:





Entry to 6 Years: $62,436 – $95,210

Over 6 Years: $90,962 – $123,876

For faculty, the Faculty Salary Grid includes grid steps that recognize up to 12 years of qualifying teaching experience. SMLS is also a member of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP).

SMLS does not use artificial intelligence or automated decision‑making tools in the screening or selection of candidates.
