Take on a pivotal role as an Indigenous Health Education Coordinator at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Focus on implementing cultural safety and Indigenous health training for health qualified students.
This in-person position at North Campus Edmonton has a one-year term. The coordinator will oversee and adapt Indigenous Health Education initiatives, working under the Office of the Vice Dean, Education while emphasizing the principles of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action #24. You will partner with various academic programs, Indigenous communities, and esteemed Elders to elevate health education and foster meaningful engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee Indigenous Health Education initiatives across the faculty
• Collaborate with academic programs and Indigenous communities
• Implement training in cultural safety and anti-racism
• Champion transformative health education practices
• Build strong engagement networks with Elders and Knowledge Keepers
Requirements:
• Strong interest in Indigenous health education
• Experience collaborating with Indigenous communities and stakeholders
• Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's goals
• Background in health education or related fields
• Effective communication and engagement skills
