POSITION DESCRIPTION:
We invite applications for a temporary, full-time PE (K/1/4/5). This position will commence December 2026 and will end December 2027.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
PE Teacher:
Collaboratively plan active and engaging PE units for Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 4 and Grade 5 students that promote physical literacy and skill development
Align curriculum with the BC PHE curriculum and the IB PYP philosophy and framework
Implement clear and consistent safety routines and the proper use of PE equipment
Nurture and model a love of lifelong physical fitness and personal wellness
Nurture relationships with students that enable them to feel safe, connected and cared for
Model and encourage the development of sportsmanship through teaching and learning in PE classes and coaching
Assess and report on students' physical literacy, skill development, and participation in the PE program
Engage in homeroom partnership responsibilities with a Grade 5 PYP grade-level teaching team
Maintain consistent, open, and clear communication with parents
Engage in ongoing professional learning

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor of Education, with a focus on Elementary (K-7) Education
Hold a valid BC teaching certificate
A demonstrated passion for and commitment to student-centred, inquiry-based, concept-driven teaching and learning
A proven understanding of children’s social and emotional needs at the elementary school (K-7) level
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with children and adults
Proficiency with technology and Google Classroom
First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain certification)
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Co-curricular coaching experience is valued

Southridge is excited to offer a competitive salary, with a pay scale that exceeds the Vancouver School District by 4%. The salary range for the PE Teacher position is from $74,069. to $120,838. Salary placement on the faculty grid is based on years of teaching experience and educational qualifications.
