Assistant Project Manager — Construction
About the Chance:
Our client is a well-established and growing construction organization with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential projects. They are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their project team and support the successful delivery of complex construction projects from pre-construction through completion.
This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional looking to take the next step in their career and gain increased responsibility across project management, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and client relations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Project Manager with the overall planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects
Support project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost control processes
Coordinate with consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
Review drawings, specifications, contracts, change orders, RFIs, and project documentation
Assist with tendering, procurement, subcontractor negotiations, and contract administration
Track project progress and identify potential schedule, cost, and scope issues
Prepare and maintain project reports, meeting minutes, schedules, and documentation
Assist with the preparation and review of project budgets, progress claims, purchase orders, and change orders
Participate in project meetings and maintain strong communication with clients and project stakeholders
Conduct site visits and work closely with site teams to ensure project requirements are being met
Assist with quality control,
safety requirements, and compliance with project specifications
Help resolve project issues and coordinate solutions between internal and external stakeholders
Support project closeout, deficiency management, turnover, and warranty processes
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in construction project coordination, project management, or a related role
Experience working on commercial, institutional, industrial, or large-scale construction projects
Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline is preferred
Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, scheduling, and project documentation
Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, RFIs, change orders, and subcontracts
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
Experience with construction management/project management software is an asset
Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, consultants, trades, and clients
