IT Audit Project Coordinator
About the Role
We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and communicative IT Audit Project Coordinator / Emerging Technical Project Manager to support enterprise technology governance initiatives for a prominent public sector client in Alberta.
In this role, you will serve as the central operational hub for tracking, coordinating, and managing technology risk remediation workstreams. You will work closely with IT leaders, cybersecurity specialists, system owners, and external audit partners to ensure timely remediation and strict adherence to governance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Audit & Remediation Tracking: Actively track open audit actions, remediation tasks, milestone deadlines, and technical dependencies across multiple IT governance workstreams (including MAPs, ICOFR, PCI-DSS, and regulatory audit findings).
Workstream Coordination: Facilitate regular status check-ins with technical leaders, cybersecurity teams, and audit partners to address blockers and confirm delivery progress.
Meeting Facilitation & Action Items: Coordinate technical working sessions, capture accurate meeting minutes, document key decisions, and hold stakeholders accountable for follow-up actions.
Schedule & RAID Governance: Use Microsoft Project and standard PMO tools to monitor remediation schedules, flag delivery risks,
identify schedule variances, and elevate concerns to leadership.
Governance Reporting: Build concise weekly status reports and visual dashboards detailing completion progress against annual audit targets and regulatory deadlines.
Ad-Hoc PMO Support: Assist PMO leadership with general project coordination, documentation management, and process tracking across adjacent technical initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 1 to 3+ years of progressive experience in IT Project Coordination, Junior Technical Project Management, or PMO / Compliance Support.
Technical & Cyber Literacy: Foundational understanding of IT infrastructure, cyber controls, and enterprise software concepts to follow technical remediation discussions with ease.
PMO Tool Mastery: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Teams) and project scheduling platforms (Microsoft Project).
Stakeholder Diplomacy: Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the diplomacy required to liaise effectively between technical engineering teams, management, and compliance auditors.
Education & Credentials: Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent practical work experience. Project management certifications (e.g., CAPM, PMP in progress, CSM) or IT/security frameworks (TOGAF, CISSP, Azure) are considered strong assets.
Work Authorization: Must legally reside in Canada and be fully eligible to work (Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Open Work Permit).
