The Town of Aylmer is inviting applications for a well-organized and resourceful individual to join the Public Works Department in the role of Public Works Coordinator.
The Town recognizes that work/life balance is key to a productive workplace and currently offers a 4-day workweek flexible arrangement for this position.
This position will lead or assist with the development, implementation, review, and management of programs and services in the Public Works Department and to provide administrative support to the Manager of Operations.
Key Responsibilities: Research trends, regulations, standards, and best practices to make recommendations on the delivery of Water, Wastewater, and Solid Waste Management programs and other Departmental obligations.
Develop, monitor and evaluate compliance with policies related to Public Work’s services and programs.
Assist and oversee administrative obligations of the Town’s Drinking Water Quality Management System.
Prepare agendas, correspondence and other confidential material.
Assist with procurement for the department by preparing procurement documents such as RFP’s and tenders.
Assist with the Department’s asset management, budgeting, long terms capital and maintenance obligations.
Assist customers with service requests by answering and directing inquiries.
Prepare and present reports to senior management and Council on issues relating to Public Works.
Utility (water and wastewater) billing and collection.
Preparation and facilitation of grant applications and ongoing administration.
Review and update by-laws and policies.
Assist the Manager with the development and evaluation of service level standards, benchmark results and performance measures.
Requires college diploma (2 – 3 year) in Public or Business Administration, or Environmental Sciences.
University degree in Public or Business Administration, or Environmental Sciences considered an asset.
Advanced skills in MS Office and Adobe (Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook and PDF), Laserfiche.
Experience in a municipal or government setting considered an asset.
Experience with Public Works’ work order or service requests including CityWide or related programs.
General knowledge of municipal government practices, and knowledge of provincial regulations relating to Transportation, Water, Wastewater, and Solid Waste.
Ability to prioritize work, time management skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be available for occasional travel (minimal basis) for meetings, training sessions and conferences.
Ability to work outside of regular office hours on occasion to fulfill job requirements.
Remuneration Range:$30.63 – $37.22 per hour 35 hours per week, plus full employee benefits program and OMERS retirement plan.
