That might come from lived experience of disability, of learning differences, or of navigating services in a second language.No media, communications, or editing background is needed.Position SummaryWe are seeking a Plain Language and Communication Reviewer to check that what we write can actually be understood.Reporting to Marketing Lead, this role will:

- Review what we publish and tell us where it loses the reader.
- Rewrite or suggest clearer wording.
- Flag language that is clinical, vague, or disrespectful.
- Advise on the formats we publish in.

Key Responsibilities

- Review job postings, guides, emails, and web copy for clarity.
- Flag terms that are unclear, clinical, or disrespectful.
- Check that instructions are easy to follow the first time.

Rewriting

- Rewrite or suggest simpler wording.
- Cut what does not need to be there.
- Keep the meaning intact while removing the jargon.

Formats





- Advise on formats such as large print, audio, captions, and easy read.
- Check headings, structure, and reading order.
- Flag where a document should not be a document at all.

- People understand our material the first time they read it.
- Jargon stops reaching the public.
- Material goes out in the formats people actually need.
- The working arrangement fits you. Hours, format, and supports adjusted as needed.

What You Bring

- Lived experience of disability, learning differences, or navigating services in a second language.
- An ear for when writing is not landing.
- Willingness to cut other people's words.
- No editing qualifications are required.
- No formal education, design experience, or previous professional experience is required.

Hours and Working Arrangement

This is a adaptable, part time role of approximately 10 to 20 hours per week. Remote work and accessible interview options are available. Accommodation and communication supports will be provided throughout the hiring process and employment.
