As a CodeEnforcement Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing local codes andregulations related to property maintenance, land use, and zoning. Your rolewill be crucial in maintaining community standards and ensuring compliance withmunicipal codes and ordinances.
KeyResponsibilities:
Inspect properties and sitesto ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, andproperty maintenance standards.
Investigate complaints andreports of code violations, documenting findings and taking appropriateenforcement actions.
Issue citations and noticesof violation to property owners and tenants, outlining required correctivemeasures and deadlines.
Conduct follow-upinspections to ensure compliance with correction orders and resolveoutstanding issues.
Prepare detailed reports anddocumentation related to inspections, violations, and enforcement actions.
Educate the public andproperty owners about code requirements, enforcement procedures,
and theappeals process.
Collaborate with othermunicipal departments, agencies, and community organizations to addressand resolve code enforcement issues.
Stay updated on changes tocodes, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure accurate andeffective enforcement.
Requirements
Relevant certification ordiploma in Code Enforcement, Public Administration, or a related field.
Previous experience in codeenforcement, property management, or a similar role, with a strongunderstanding of local codes and regulations.
Excellent observational andanalytical skills for identifying and documenting code violations.
Robust communication skillsfor interacting with property owners, tenants, and municipal officials.
Ability to manage multiplecases and maintain accurate records in a detailed and organized manner.
Familiarity with legalprocedures and enforcement actions related to code violations.
