Position Overview

Chinook Feeders 2024 Ltd. is seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined Feed Mill Operator to join our operations team in Nanton, Alberta.

The Feed Mill Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring the feed mill and steam-flaking systems used in daily cattle feed production. This position plays an key role in maintaining feed quality, accurate ration production, equipment performance, and overall feedlot efficiency.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in feedlot operations, agriculture, grain handling, industrial operations, or feed mill production.

Key Responsibilities

● Operate and monitor steam-flaking systems and feed mill equipment.

● Monitor steam pressure, moisture levels, retention times, and flake consistency.

● Manufacture feed according to established ration specifications.

● Operate loaders, conveyors, augers, rollers, mixers, and grain-handling systems.

● Monitor ingredient flow and feed quality.

● Complete daily equipment inspections.

● Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting.

● Identify and report mechanical or operational issues.

● Maintain accurate production and maintenance records.

● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

● Follow all company safety, biosecurity, and operational procedures.

● Work closely with the feed crew, maintenance team, livestock staff, and management.

● Perform other duties as required to support feedlot operations.





Qualifications

● Previous feedlots, feed mill, agricultural, grain-handling, or industrial experience is preferred.

● Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

● Experience operating steam-flaking equipment is an asset.

● Heavy equipment operating experience is an asset.

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

● Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

● Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required.

● Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

● Willing to train the right candidate.

● Not afraid of heights.

Schedule

● Full-time, permanent position.

● 11 days on / 3 days off.

● Early morning starts.

● Approximately 9–10 hour shifts.

● Weekend and holiday work as required.

Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
