Java Developer

Hybrid, Toronto

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java technologies, microservices architecture, APIs, databases, and modern software engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and maintain robust Java-based applications and services.
- Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Participate in system design and architectural discussions and provide technical recommendations.
- Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested code following industry best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and security practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, application deployments, monitoring, and production releases.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to improving engineering standards and development processes.





Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
- Solid expertise in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, design patterns, OOP, and SOLID principles.
- Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Experience with JPA/Hibernate and database performance optimization.
- Proficiency with Git, Maven/Gradle, unit testing, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ is preferred.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of application security, logging, monitoring, and production support.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience delivering and supporting enterprise-grade applications in production environments.
