JOB SUMMARY -

The Production Supervisor plays a key role in leading daily manufacturing operations at Electrical Contacts Limited (ECL). This position is responsible for ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved. You will coordinate workflow, support and develop employees, and drive performance on your shift while ensuring compliance with company systems, policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.

As a frontline leader, you will set clear expectations, monitor results, resolve challenges, and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES –

Production & Operational Leadership:

- Oversee and improve the quality and efficiency of daily production activities
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and communicate progress updates or schedule changes as required
- Conduct shift cross-over walks with the previous shift Supervisor to understand the current condition of the shop floor
- Monitor production rates, output, and operational performance throughout the shift
- Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities to employees and adjusting tasks as production needs change
- Set up and stage upcoming jobs for operators to maintain production flow
- Manage process flow and work with teams to alleviate production bottlenecks

Quality & Process Control:

- Ensure employees follow Quality Control Plans (QCP), work instructions, and product specifications
- Work collaboratively with Quality and Engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and resolve process concerns
- Review non-conforming parts with employees and reinforce training to prevent recurrence
- Schedule routine process audits with PQAs to enforce quality at the source
- Promote a “stop and speak up” culture when non-conforming parts are identified
- Attend weekly DCN meetings and support implementation of process changes

Workforce Leadership & Employee Management:

- Communicate daily, weekly, and monthly production objectives to employees
- Observe employee performance and provide coaching, feedback, recognition, and discipline when necessary
- Investigate employee concerns or complaints and escalate issues to the Production Manager when required
- Approve or decline vacation requests in Nethris
- Approve employee time and expense (T&E;) each shift and review employee hours in Enterprise
- Support employee cross-training and request additional training or policy updates when required

Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement:

- Audit order line completion in Epicor daily
- Monitor labour and material variances and work with the Production Manager to address discrepancies
- Track and report production performance, targets, and efficiency metrics
- Lead and engage the shift in continuous improvement initiatives




- Open RRTs when process issues arise and coordinate support to restore operations quickly

Health & Safety Leadership:

- Enforce safe work practices and ensure proper use of PPE
- Conduct regular safety inspections and safety talks with employees
- Attend to and oversee First Aid injuries and hazard reporting
- Lead accident investigations and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are taken
- Coordinate equipment maintenance with the Maintenance Department to support safe operations

Meetings & Organizational Participation:

- Attend meetings during the assigned shift
- Participate in monthly Supervisor meetings
- Participate in required safety and supervisory training programs

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES –

Knowledge:

- Working knowledge of production processes, standard work, and quality requirements within the assigned area.
- Understanding of Job Instruction training methodology.
- Knowledge of basic health and safety practices applicable to a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with quality documentation, including NCRs, RRTs, audits, and QCPs.

Skills:

- Strong verbal and written communication skills to deliver training, provide feedback, and report issues clearly.
- Effective observational and coaching skills to assess performance and guide associate development.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands in a fast-paced production environment.
- Problem-solving skills to identify issues, recommend improvements, and escalate appropriately.
- Basic math and documentation skills for reporting, training records, and quality documentation.

Abilities:

- Ability to work independently while supporting and coordinating with supervisors, trainers, and associates.
- Ability to follow instructions, adhere to procedures, and maintain attention to detail.
- Ability to build positive working relationships and influence others without direct supervisory authority.
- Ability to remain on the production floor for the majority of the shift and actively engage with associates.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE -

- Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must be fully signed off and deemed competent in the assigned lead area, or actively working toward full sign-off through the approved training program.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is an asset.
- Basic computer skills are preferred,



including the ability to use email and complete electronic training or quality documentation.

WORKING CONDITIONS -

- This role is primarily production floor–based and requires sustained physical presence throughout the assigned area.
- Walking: approximately 55–60% of the shift while monitoring operations, supporting associates, and delivering hands-on training across the production area.
- Standing: approximately 35–40% of the shift while observing work, providing instruction, troubleshooting issues, and performing quality or safety checks.
- Sitting: approximately 5% of the shift, limited to brief documentation or communication tasks.
- Work may be performed in a hot or humid manufacturing environment.
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 50 lbs may be required.
- Mandatory use of safety boots and required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Hearing protection or Respirator may be required depending on task and work area.
