As our business continues to grow, we are preparing to open our new Cornwall training location and are looking for a motivated Safety Trainer to join our team.

This is more than a training position. You will play an important role in delivering quality safety training, supporting our customers and helping grow the True North Safety brand by identifying new training opportunities and developing relationships with local businesses.

What You’ll Be Doing

Safety Training

- Deliver engaging and professional safety training to employees and customers.
- Facilitate classroom and practical training sessions.
- Deliver training such as:
- Working at Heights
- Forklift / Powered Mobile Equipment
- MEWP / Aerial Platform
- WHMIS
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space
- Telehandler
- Other workplace health and safety programs.
- Conduct practical demonstrations and hands-on training where required.
- Assess participant knowledge, skills and competency.
- Monitor training effectiveness and provide follow-up coaching or retraining when required.
- Ensure training is delivered in accordance with applicable legislation, standards and recognized best practices.
- Maintain accurate training records, certificates and documentation.
- Prepare and maintain training materials, equipment and demonstrations.
- Support the development of new courses, presentations and learning materials.

⸻ Training Sales & Business Development

This position includes an important sales and business-development component.

- Identify and pursue new training opportunities throughout Eastern Ontario.
- Develop relationships with local businesses, contractors and organizations.
- Contact prospective customers by phone, email and in person.
- Follow up on leads and existing customer relationships.
- Identify opportunities for additional training and safety services.
- Promote True North Safety’s training programs and services.
- Attend networking events, customer meetings and community business events when required.
- Prepare and present training proposals and pricing to prospective customers.
- Follow up on quotations and convert opportunities into confirmed training bookings.




- Build long-term relationships with customers and become a trusted safety-training resource.
- Work toward established sales and customer-development targets.
- Help expand True North Safety’s customer base and presence throughout Eastern Ontario.

Commission Opportunity The successful candidate will have the opportunity to earn commission on qualifying training sales generated by the Trainer, in addition to their regular compensation.

The goal is simple

The more business you help bring to True North Safety, the more you can earn.

Commission will apply to qualifying new training business and customer opportunities generated and secured by the Trainer, subject to True North Safety’s commission structure.

Customer Service

- Be a professional representative of True North Safety.
- Build strong relationships with customers and training participants.
- Respond to customer inquiries professionally and promptly.
- Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate training solutions.
- Work with employers to identify certification and training requirements.
- Provide a positive and professional training experience from initial contact through completion.
- Identify opportunities to support customers with additional safety training and services.

What We’re Looking For

Training & Safety Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in workplace safety, training, health and safety management, construction or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Ontario occupational health and safety requirements.
- Experience delivering workplace safety training is strongly preferred.
- Experience monitoring training effectiveness and providing follow-up as required.
- Knowledge of applicable Ontario legislation, regulations and safety standards.

Strong Communication Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident and professional public-speaking abilities.
- Comfortable delivering training to groups of varying sizes and experience levels.
- Ability to make technical safety information easy to understand and engaging.

Construction & Equipment Knowledge
- Construction industry experience is an asset.
- General knowledge of construction equipment and workplace operations.
- Experience with forklifts, aerial platforms, telehandlers, fall protection or other mobile equipment is an asset.
- Familiarization and understanding of MHE, MEWP and other equipmentwould be considered an asset.

Sales & Business Development
- Comfortable identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Strong customer-service and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working toward sales targets.




- Ability to recognize opportunities to introduce customers to additional training and safety services.
- Previous sales or business-development experience is an asset.

Organization & Computer Skills
- Highly detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Strong time-management and planning abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple customers, training sessions and projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experience with training-management systems is an asset.

Personal Qualities
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Professional and dependable.
- Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player who works well with customers and colleagues.
- Customer-service oriented.
- Positive attitude and professional appearance.
- Flexible to support customer schedules, including occasional early morning, evening or weekend training.

Travel
- Willingness to travel throughout Eastern Ontario as required.
- Full G Class driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
