Our client is seeking a highly competent Structural Engineer with experience in heavy industrial projects to join their team in Kimberley . This challenging role involves the design and analysis of structures supporting industrial facilities, such as processing plants, material handling systems, and heavy machinery foundations. You will ensure the structural integrity, safety, and longevity of critical industrial infrastructure. This position requires a deep understanding of structural principles applied to dynamic and high-load environments, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for heavy industrial structures, including steel and concrete components, pipe racks, and equipment supports.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications for industrial facilities.
- Ensure designs meet stringent safety standards, operational requirements, and codes specific to industrial environments.
- Conduct site assessments and provide structural engineering support during the construction and commissioning phases.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical,
and process engineers to integrate structural designs seamlessly into the overall plant layout.
- Review contractor submittments and resolve structural issues that may arise during construction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Qualified Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience focused on the structural design of heavy industrial facilities .
- Proficiency in structural analysis software, especially for dynamic and complex load conditions (e.g., STAAD.Pro, ANSYS).
- Experience with materials such as structural steel, reinforced concrete, and specialized industrial coatings.
- Strong understanding of relevant industrial codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, SANS).
