Overview The Recovery Coach is a non-clinical, peer-based role in the Mental Wellness Department. This position supports Saulteau First Nations (SFN) community members who are in recovery from addiction, particularly those transitioning back to community life after treatment.

The Recovery

Coach provides one-on-one coaching, mentorship, and peer support, while also coordinating and facilitating group-based recovery programming, such as SMART Recovery and Wellbriety. As a compassionate and reliable presence, the Recovery Coach works closely with other Mental Wellness team members to strengthen community wellness and prevent relapse.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide peer support, mentorship, and 1:1 coaching to individuals in recovery.
- Support community members transitioning from treatment back into SFN life.
- Assist with relapse prevention planning and implementation.
- Facilitate and coordinate recovery groups such as SMART Recovery, Wellbriety, and other peer-led recovery initiatives.
- Collaborate with Mental Wellness staff to support broader programming and initiatives.
- Advocate for community members and help navigate access to available recovery and wellness resources.
- Maintain accurate records while respecting client confidentiality and privacy.
- Support public awareness and engagement around recovery within the SFN community.




- Travel within the SFN community and surrounding areas as needed.

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- ASIST, First Aid and CPR, and Mental Health First Aid certifications are considered assets, or the candidate must be willing to obtain them.
- Personal lived or living experience related to addiction and recovery is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in peer support, addiction recovery, or community-based health and wellness roles is considered an asset.
- Comfortable working in a non-clinical, community-oriented environment.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal record check with the vulnerable sector.

Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Strong understanding of the recovery journey, including challenges faced when transitioning from treatment back into the community.
- Ability to build trusting, non-judgmental relationships with individuals at different stages of recovery.
- Strong communication and active listening skills.
- Familiarity with Indigenous wellness models and culturally appropriate recovery practices is considered an asset.
- Strong group facilitation skills and the ability to encourage others.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of local and regional recovery and mental wellness resources.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, personal boundaries, and ethical peer-support practices.

Work Conditions

- Work is performed primarily in the office Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Travel may be required within SFN community and surrounding community.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Wage: $25.10-$27.49

Pay: $25.10-$27.49 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 per week
