Trailer Mechanic
Since 1974, Midwest Truck, Trailer & Collision Services has been the GTA’s one-call partner for keeping fleets moving. As a Trailer Mechanic you will restore trailers to road-ready condition so drivers stay on schedule and customers trust us with every emergency. Your work directly protects uptime, safety, and the reputation we have built over five decades.
Performance Objectives
- Diagnose and repair air-brake, lighting, suspension, and structural faults on 8–12 trailers per week so every unit leaves the shop inspection-ready and DOT-compliant.
- Complete PM inspections and preventative welding within published cycle times, cutting unplanned downtime by at least 15 % for assigned fleet accounts.
- Document every job in the shop system the same day, capturing parts, labor, and photos that support accurate billing and warranty claims.
- Respond to after-hours mobile calls within 45 minutes when dispatched, restoring trailers on-site so loads keep moving.
- Mentor one apprentice per quarter on trailer-specific systems, raising first-time-fix rates across the Trailer Service team.
- Maintain personal tool inventory and shop equipment so no job is delayed by missing gear or unsafe conditions.
Environment & Resources You report to the Trailer Service Manager and work alongside 8–10 technicians in our Mississauga shop plus 24/7 mobile units. Full parts inventory, welding bays, lift equipment, and diagnostic software are provided. Overtime and on-call premiums apply; safety gear and uniforms supplied.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven ability to independently diagnose and repair trailer air-brake, lighting, and undercarriage systems to CVOR standards.
- Valid 310T or equivalent trailer mechanic certification plus current air-brake endorsement.
- Demonstrated welding and structural-repair skill that produces leak-free, inspection-passing results.
- Comfortable using shop management software to log jobs and parts the same day they are completed.
- Willingness to rotate onto the 24/7 mobile roster and work outdoors in all weather.
Role Selling Points
- One-call, end-to-end workplace—truck, trailer, collision, and mobile under one roof since 1974.
- Steady commercial fleet work, not seasonal retail volume.
- Clear path to lead technician or mobile-supervisor roles as we grow.
- Family-owned shop that invests in tools, training, and overtime pay.
If you take pride in sending trailers back on the road safer and stronger than they arrived, apply today. Bring your toolbox and your work ethic—we’ll put both to immediate use.
