We are hiring an Operational Accountant for a growing Canadian food and beverage company with national retail distribution. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands what happens to the numbers when product moves through a plant and onto a grocery shelf.
You do not need a CPA. You need to know food and beverage CPG.
What you will own
- Day to day operational accounting including AP, AR, bank and account reconciliations, and support through month end close
- Inventory accounting: raw materials, WIP, finished goods, cycle counts and variance investigation
- COGS, landed cost and product costing, including yield and scrap analysis
- Trade spend tracking, retailer deductions and chargeback reconciliation
- Purchase order and receiving reconciliation with production and supply chain
- Supporting the finance leadership team with reporting, budget inputs and ad hoc analysis
- Helping tighten processes as the business scales across new retail channels
What we are looking for
- 4 or more years of accounting experience, with meaningful time in food and beverage, CPG or another manufacturing environment
- Solid working knowledge of inventory, COGS and cost accounting in a product business
- Comfortable with retailer deductions,
trade spend and the reconciliation headaches that come with grocery distribution
- Strong Excel. Experience with an ERP or inventory system is an asset
- Accounting diploma or degree. CPA is not required and this role is well suited to a strong undesignated accountant
- Someone who wants to be close to the operation, not behind a wall of spreadsheets
