Job Title: Accounting Manager

Location: Markham, Ontario

Reports To: President

Salary Range: CA$85,000 – $100,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)

Summary:

Guan’s Mushroom is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee accounting activities for our two Ontario locations: the Markham warehouse and Niagara-on-the-Lake farm.

Based primarily in Markham and reporting directly to the President, this position will be responsible for day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, inventory and cost accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

The Accounting Manager will work closely with the President and operations teams at both locations. Fluency in Mandarin and English is required for regular communication with company leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee accounting activities for the Markham warehouse and Niagara-on-the-Lake farm.
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including reviewing and processing vendor invoices, preparing and executing approved vendor payments, maintaining vendor records, and reconciling AP balances.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Provide financial reports and analysis to the President.
- Monitor expenses, inventory, product costing, and operational costs.
- Review inventory transactions and reconciliations and work with operations to resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
- Review payroll-related accounting entries and reconciliations.
- Maintain accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, banks, and other financial partners as needed.
- Support year-end financial reporting and tax preparation.




- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting.
- Work closely with management at both locations.
- Travel to Niagara-on-the-Lake approximately once per week.
- Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned by the President.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting.
- Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English – required.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Experience with inventory accounting and product costing preferred.
- Experience in agriculture, food production, distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, or a related industry is an asset.
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA designation is an asset but not required.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working directly with senior leadership and operational teams.

Work Location & Travel The Accounting Manager will be based primarily at the Markham, Ontario location and will support:

- Markham, Ontario – Warehouse
- Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario – Farm

The position requires approximately 20% travel, with travel to the Niagara-on-the-Lake location expected approximately once per week, or as frequently when business needs require.
