Job Summary
This position is the first point of contact for the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences and provides front line receptionist duties and administrative support in the main office.
Reporting to the Departmental Secretary, the receptionist acts as a resource person, answers inquiries in person, on the phone, or emails from students, staff, faculty, and members of the public and when necessary, re-directing queries to the appropriate person or department. This position provides support to faculty, students, and staff.
Job Requirements
Experience:
This position requires a minimum of 1-3 years’ related experience in a similar office environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities

- Ability to prioritize and manage time and tasks with attention to detail.
- Ability to problem solve by using judgement, independent thinking and/or analysis.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures.

- Experience composing various business communications such as emails, memos and reports.
- Experience scheduling meetings and calendar coordination.
- Experience in maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience with pre-planning and recording meetings.
- Experience with event planning and coordination.
- Proficiency with computer applications (i.e., MS-Office Suite, Adobe Create Suite, content management systems).
Specialized knowledge/education
- Strong clerical skills using variety of software (MS office applications)
- 1-3 years related experience in a general office environment
