Job Overview

We are seeking dynamic and caring After School Care Assistants to join our team part time (17.5 hours per week) in our various after school care programs. Our team is dedicated to supporting children’s growth and development during their time in our facilities. In this role, you will help create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can thrive socially and emotionally.

Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster a positive atmosphere that encourages learning, creativity, and fun. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's lives. The hours of this position are Monday - Friday from 2:00 - 5:30pm.

Duties

After School care Assistants are responsible for the following:

- Helping plan and implement monthly snack menu and activities.
- When appropriate, participating in annual licensing inspection.
- Assisting with monthly fire drills and annual evacuation drill.
- Communicating with families.
- Communicating with school administration when appropriate.
- Communicating with other staff about important information.
- Being open to talk about feedback, concerns and participate in conflict resolution when appropriate.
- Signing children in and out of daily attendance.
- Completing the incident log when necessary.
- Building relationships with, supervising, interacting with and participating in activities with children.
- Assisting the manager with daily tasks.
- Helping ensure the Licensing regulations are being followed.
- When the manager is away, taking the lead when there is a sub in place.
- Assisting in daily operations.




- Ensuring the centre is tidy and assisting in monthly toy and equipment sanitization.
- Keeping the children free from danger and ensuring the outdoor area is checked daily for hazards.
- Participating in ongoing professional development.
- Being flexible as plans often change and the day can get chaotic.
- Keeping all credentials up to date (i.e. First Aid, ECE, etc.)
- Supervise children during after school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Organize engaging recreational activities that promote social skills, teamwork, and creativity
- Support children in following routines, rules, and classroom expectations in a positive manner
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children’s progress and behavior
- Maintain a clean and organized workplace conducive to learning and play
- Collaborate with team members to plan activities that align with developmental goals and curriculum standards

Experience

- Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is preferred but training is also provided.
- Prior experience working with children with special needs is an asset.
- Knowledge of child development and Childcare Licensing is an asset.
- Strong communication skills to interact confidently with children, parents, and team members.
- Enthusiasm for fostering a supportive environment that encourages curiosity and growth.
