Agronomy Summer Student

Westgreen Agronomy operates as an independent agronomy business and Authorized Seed Crop Inspection Service (ASCIS) in the Saskatoon, SK area. Westgreen prides itself in being an independent business that has farmers’ interests and success as their top priority. Westgreen is seeking an Agronomy Summer Student to work primarily in the Saskatoon-Rosthern-Waldheim area.

- The position start date would be May 1, 2027 and end August 30th 2027.
- The selected applicant would be expected to work around 35-40 hours per week, with the potential for more during peak times.
- The role of the selected applicant would be primarily to assist full-time agronomists in field scouting, plant counts, plant tissue sampling, and clubroot scouting.
- The selected applicant will receive guidance from full-time agronomists on scouting methods for various crops.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Providing thorough field scouting, including weed identification, crop staging, insect monitoring, and disease monitoring.
- Collect plant tissue samples, complete plant stand counts.




- Complete clear and concise scouting reports.
- Work closely and communicate regularly with full-time agronomists.
- Operate equipment (truck, ATV, drone) to complete scouting duties.
- Work independently and manage time efficiently to complete assigned tasks each day.
- Be willing and eager to learn.

We are looking for someone that exhibits professionalism, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the industry we work in. Having or working towards an education in agronomy, or a related field, is an asset.

Applicant must be able to work independently and maintain strong relationships with full time agronomists.

The selected applicant will receive a competitive hourly wage, a company truck for work use, as well allowances for your cell phone and work materials.
