We are looking to fill a part time Aquatics Team Lead position. The Aquatic Team Lead provides leadership and support to Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, Aquatic Fitness Instructors, and other aquatic staff while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, Lifesaving Society standards, and Alberta Pool Standards and Regulations. This position will be a variation of weekday/weekends, mornings and evenings.

Key Accountabilities

1. Leadership & Staff Support

a) Act as the designated person in charge during assigned Team Lead shifts. b) Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, mentorship, and direction to aquatic staff.

c) Support staff onboarding, training, in-services, and skill development.

d) Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.

e) Communicate operational concerns, staffing issues, and member feedback to Aquatic Management.

1. Aquatic Operations & Safety

a) Perform all duties of a Lifeguard and ensure safe operation of the aquatic facility. b) Monitor facility conditions, rescue equipment, and safety standards.

c) Respond to emergencies, incidents, and operational concerns.

d) Lead emergency response efforts until relieved by emergency services, or Management.

e) Ensure aquatic spaces remain safe, clean, and organized.

1. Program & Instructional Leadership

a) Support and monitor the delivery of all aquatic programs and services. b) Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to instructional staff.

c) Assist with participant assessments, report cards, and lesson quality.

d) Ensure programs are delivered safely, consistently,



and in accordance with established standards.

1. Customer Service

a) Provide exceptional service to members, guests, and participants. b) Respond to inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner.

c) Promote aquatic programs, services, and special events.

1. Administrative Support

a) Assist with staffing coverage, shift changes, documentation, and operational reporting as required. b) Support aquatic events, leadership programs, and departmental initiatives.

c) Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Minimum 18 years of age due to supervisory responsibilities and the requirement to provide oversight of staff who may be subject to youth employment regulations.
- Minimum three (3) years of aquatic industry experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within an aquatic environment.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as operationally required.
- Familiarity with Lifesaving Society standards, Alberta Pool Standards and Regulations, and aquatic industry best practices.
- Required Certifications: Intermediate First Aid with CPR C/AED,



National Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, and Lifesaving Instructor.
- Certifications Considered Assets: National Lifeguard Instructor (NLI), Swim Instructor Trainer, Lifesaving Instructor Trainer, Pool Operations Level I, First Aid Instructor, SwimAbilities Instructor, and other aquatic leadership or instructor-trainer certifications.
