SUMMARY The Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting the Manager of Wild West Gallery. The Assistant Manager is also responsible for supporting the overall operation of Wild West Gallery to improve service, marketing execution and company profitability. This includes assisting with scheduling, appraisals, budgeting, and attainment of financial results.
The Assistant Manager will assume responsibility and appropriate management authority when the Manager is away. The Assistant Manager will also serve as a cashier and be responsible for handling cash transactions; charging purchases to customers’ credit cards and providing customers with receipts; monitoring A/R purchases; monitoring and stocking shelves; ordering merchandise; and implementing and completing e-commerce sales.
Other responsibilities include assisting with the overall management of image and standards and supporting the implementation and adherence to company programs, policies, and procedures. This individual must possess good public relations skills and demonstrate professionalism when dealing with customers, vendors, staff, and the community. This position requires the individual to be prepared for a flexible work schedule.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the Manager in planning, organizing, directing and evaluating daily operations.
- Assist with implementing and maintaining operational procedures.
- Balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports, reconciliations and related forms.
- Assist the Manager in providing leadership and direction in accordance with company policies, procedures, programs,
merchandising standards and overall expectations.
- Assist the Manager in the development and achievement of financial results and store budget objectives in the areas of sales, margins, expenses and profits.
- Assist the Manager in providing leadership in the areas of employee relations, training, development, performance management, discipline, recognition, security, and administration of policies and procedures.
- Assist the Manager with performance reviews; prepare and monitor staff work schedules as directed; and monitor staff performance. Ensure forms and payroll records are completed and submitted to NGCI Head Office.
- Assist with yearly performance work plans.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding pricing, financial and marketing strategies, and Human Resources-related information.
- Control inventory for Wild West Gallery; conduct annual full-store inventory counts and reporting, and perform monthly spot inventory audits to ensure inventory accuracy and effective inventory control.
- Lead social media marketing and customer engagement efforts across appropriate platforms to increase brand awareness, promote products and services, strengthen community relationships, and drive sales growth.
- Maintain records of stock and sales.
- Make certain the store adheres to government regulations in the area of furs and feathers.
- Maintain customer service standards by tracking, monitoring and following up on customer comments and complaints in a timely and effective manner.
- Maintain a clean store environment, including janitorial duties.
- Assist with liaison within the community as a public relations representative for the company.
- Display positive motivation and enthusiasm toward all staff and customers.
- Maintain a positive image within the community as a public relations representative for the company.
- Provide feedback to the Manager regarding recommendations for continued improvement of operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrate accuracy and accountability in cash handling and financial transactions.
- Must be able to use social media platforms, POS systems and perform basic website maintenance for the online store presence.
- Commitment to maintaining the required work schedule.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Willing to work extra shifts and/or extended hours when requested.
- Willing to assist the Manager as requested and take responsibility.
- Must have own transportation.
