Assistant Professor (1.0 FTE), Midwifery Education Program,

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology The Midwifery Education Program aims to be a leader in challenging institutional norms and redefining midwifery in Canada by building inclusive spaces for students, faculty, staff, and community supporters who have been systemically excluded. We are committed to scholarly inquiry and emphasize the lifelong ability to learn and grow as individuals and as an organization. Our approach assures the acquisition of the knowledge, skills and values needed to begin and continue to practice midwifery.

We foster inclusive and critical thinking in the academic setting that extends into the practice setting and forms the basis for sound qualified practice.

Applications are invited for a tenure track (research) appointment (1.0 FTE), at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Midwifery Education Program, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University.

The ideal candidate will be a registered midwife with a doctoral degree, experience teaching in the Ontario Midwifery Education Program, an active research program, and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion within midwifery education. Preference will be given to candidates with research expertise relevant to social justice in midwifery, experience practicing midwifery and precepting midwifery students in Canada, and experience mentoring graduate students. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College of Midwives of Ontario.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and diplomacy skills, and a commitment to working collaboratively both with other midwifery faculty members and across disciplines. This position is a tenure track (research)



position and will involve administrative responsibilities and research in addition to teaching midwifery students at the undergraduate and graduate level.

This is a full time 1.0 MUFA faculty position (tenure track, research).
