CASUAL / RELIEF DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORT WORKER

EmpowerU is looking for reliable, compassionate and engaging Casual/Relief Developmental Support Workers to join our day program team. This position is ideal for someone looking for flexible, occasional work who is comfortable stepping in when additional staffing is needed.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Casual/Relief Support Workers may be contacted to provide coverage for:

- Staff illness or unexpected absences
- Vacation and planned staff leave
- Community outings and special activities
- Days when additional participant support is required

RESPONSIBILITIES Depending on the shift, you may:

- Support adults with autism and/or developmental disabilities
- Provide supervision and ensure participant safety
- Engage participants through conversation, games, recreational activities and community outings
- Assist participants with daily routines and transitions
- Support participants according to their individual abilities and needs




- Assist during meals and program activities
- Work collaboratively with EmpowerU staff
- Complete basic shift or participant documentation when required

- Willing to learn the routines, preferences and individual needs of EmpowerU participants

QUALIFICATIONS Experience supporting individuals with autism, developmental disabilities or other special needs is strongly preferred.

Education or experience in Developmental Services, Autism & Behavioral Science, Social Services, Community Services, Personal Support, Educational Assistance, or a related field is an asset.
