The Data Centre Technician to support installation, maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning activities at the Calgary Data Centre.This role requires both proactive planning and reactive support to ensure reliable operations, with a strong focus on customer experience. The successful candidate will help ensure plans are in place, properly budgeted, and aligned with business requirements. Responsible for installing, cabling, and maintaining physical IT infrastructure within the data center. This includes rack and stack activities, structured cabling (fiber and copper), hardware installation, and ensuring all deployments meet design standards, safety requirements.Work Location: Calgary - 5 days in officeSalary Range: CAD 59,000 to CAD 73,000 yearly with benefits and RRSPKey ResponsibilitiesRacking, Cabling & InstallationsPerform rack and stack activities for IT and network equipment.Install, route, label, and terminate structured cabling (copper and fiber).Assist with infrastructure upgrades, equipment installs, and decommissioning activities.Provide hands‑on technical support during deployment of new systems and hardware.System Monitoring & OptimizationMonitor system and infrastructure performance and identify improvement opportunities.Perform basic diagnostics, troubleshooting, and minor repairs to minimize downtime.Maintain accurate asset and rack/space data in the DCIM tool (e.G., Nlyte).Respond to incidents, alarms, and service requests in a timely manner.Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, and cabling issues to restore operations quickly.Document incidents, root causes, and corrective actions.Compliance, Safety & Best PracticesFollow all data center safety procedures, including working with power, cabling, and equipment.Ensure adherence to site standards, regulatory requirements,



and environmental guidelines.Maintain clean, organized, and audit‑ready racks, cabling, and work areas.Documentation & Asset ManagementMaintain accurate records of installations, moves, adds, and changes (IMAC). Track asset lifecycle activities including installs, relocations, and disposals.Support asset disposition processes, including coordination and financial write‑offs where required.QualificationsCollege diploma or degree in Computer Science, IT/Network Administration, Data Centre Operations, or a related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).Proven experience working in data center environments, particularly in live/production settings.Strong experience with structured cabling (fiber and copper), including cable routing, termination, labeling, and rack cable management.Hands‑on experience with rack & stack, hardware installation, and physical infrastructure deployments.Hands‑on experience with cable certification and interpreting test results to identify faults and remediation steps.Familiarity with data center monitoring and management tools.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently, including conducting.Solid understanding of data center safety practices, including working around power systems and mechanical equipment.Additional SkillsExperience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and energy management systems.Valuable communication and teamwork skills.Working ConditionsThis is an on‑site position.The role may require working outside of regular business hours for maintenance, emergency repairs, or system upgrades.Physical demands include lifting heavy equipment and working in confined or elevated spaces.Occasional after‑hours or weekend work may be required to support the business requirements.#J-18808-Ljbffr
