Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Cabinet Maker to join our custom millwork company. The successful candidate must have 5–10 years of hands-on experience building custom cabinets and architectural millwork.
This position is responsible for manufacturing and assembling high-quality cabinetry and millwork according to approved shop drawings, project specifications, and company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture and assemble custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, wall panels, vanities, closets, reception desks, and other custom components.
- Read and accurately interpret shop drawings, architectural drawings, specifications, and cut lists.
- Build cabinets from start to finish while maintaining accuracy and high-quality workmanship.
- Set up and safely operate woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools.
- Install hardware, hinges, drawer slides, doors, panels, and other cabinet components.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, dimensions, fit, finish, and compliance with approved drawings.
- Identify production issues and work with supervisors, project managers, designers, and installers to develop practical solutions.
- Confirm that the required materials, hardware, and components are available for production.
- Assist with deliveries, site measurements, installations, and service work when required.
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
- Travel between company locations and project sites when required.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years and preferably up to 10 years of professional experience building custom cabinets and architectural millwork is required.
- Strong knowledge of cabinet construction, materials, hardware, joinery, assembly, and finishing requirements.
- Ability to independently build custom cabinetry from approved shop drawings.
- Ability to read and understand detailed shop drawings, architectural drawings, specifications, and cut lists.
- Experience operating standard woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, project managers, designers, installers, and other employees.
- Must have a valid Ontario G driver’s licence, a clean driving record, and be comfortable driving company vehicles between locations and project sites.
- Must be physically capable of lifting and handling cabinetry, materials, and millwork components.
- Reliable transportation, punctuality, and consistent attendance are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate of Qualification or apprenticeship training in Cabinetmaking is an asset.
- Experience with commercial and high-end residential millwork is preferred.
- Experience operating CNC equipment and up-to-date cabinet-production machinery is an asset.
- Installation and site-measuring experience is an asset.
Employment Details
- Employment type: Full-time
- Compensation: $35.00–$45.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated cabinetmaking skills.
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
